Can I choose my favorite airlines & hotels?

Absolutely! When you set flight, hotel, and travel goals, you have several options. You can choose “Any Hotel” or “Any Program” or you can specify your preferred hotel chain or airline.

If you choose “Any Hotel” or “Any Program”, your recommendations will be based on the fastest way to earn the total number of points you need to take your trip using the programs offering the best deals for your destination.

If you specify a hotel or airline (or a group of hotels and airlines), your recommendations will be based on the fastest way to earn the total number of points you need to fly on your preferred airline(s) and stay in your preferred hotel(s).

In addition to choosing your favorite airline & hotel, you can choose whether to plan your trip based on peak (Full level) or off-peak (Saver level) dates.

How do your credit card recommendations work?

Once you’ve set a goal, you get a list of credit card recommendations. Depending on your goal and your preferences, you may see a list of 2, 3, 4, 5, or even more cards to add to your optimal wallet.

The cards appear in the order we recommend applying for them, but you don’t have to add them all at once. Many of the cards we recommend have a sign-up bonus. For most users, we recommend that you sign up for the first card on the list and use it until you reach the minimum spend required to keep your bonus points.

Then you can apply for the next card on the list. If you’re a big spender, you can apply for and use multiple cards at once, but please apply for them in the order suggested.

We use automatic notifications to help you manage the cards in your wallet and figure out when it’s time to apply for a new card.

What does it mean that your recommendations are 100% independent?

Good question! We’re proud of the fact that our recommendations are completely independent and designed to benefit you.

Many of the credit card recommendations you find on the internet are sponsored by credit card companies. Companies and bloggers are paid by credit card companies to get people to apply. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting bad recommendations, but there is a clear conflict of interest.

Our recommendations are made using our proprietary algorithm, CardArbTM, which is based on facts and logic. We evaluate all available credit card offers and deliver unbiased recommendations that will help you achieve your goals as fast as possible. We don’t get any money from credit card companies, so there’s no conflict of interest. You can be confident that our recommendations are unbiased and designed to deliver value to you.

How do I know when it’s time to apply for a new card or stop using an old one?

We use automatic push notifications to keep your wallet up to date.

We let you know when you’ve reached the minimum spend limit to keep your sign-up bonus, when it’s time to sign up for a new card, or if it’s a good idea to downgrade a card to avoid an annual fee.

How do I know when it's time to apply for a new card or stop using the old one?

What about the points & miles I already have?

Our recommendations consider the points & miles you already have. My Rewards keeps up with all your reward programs. To get started, you can either enter your existing points manually or you can do it automatically by connecting with AwardWallet. You can connect with AwardWallet from inside the app. Your rewards balance is updated as you earn more points.

When you enter a flight, hotel, or travel goal, the app looks at your existing points & miles first. If you already have enough to achieve your goal, you’ll get recommendations about the best way to transfer and combine your points to book your travel. If you need more points, you’ll get recommendations about which cards you should add to your wallet to earn the points you need as fast as possible.

How do you choose which card I should use for every purchase?

When choosing which card you should use for a particular purchase, we consider the cards in your wallet, your goals, and the kind of purchase you’re making. Our recommendations factor in your available sign-up bonuses, minimum and maximum spend limits, and bonus categories to pick the card you should use.

Let’s look at a couple of examples. If you’ve recently signed up for a new card with a sign-up bonus of 50,000 points and a minimum spend of $2,000, we’ll recommend that you use this card until you’ve reached the minimum spend threshold to keep your bonus points.

If minimum spending limits aren’t a factor, then the type of purchase and available bonus reward categories are the major considerations. If you have a card that offers 3X points at restaurants, we’ll typically recommend that you use that card when you eat out. If, however, another one of your cards is offering 5X points at restaurants during December, we’ll remind you to use that card for dining while the special offer lasts.

We do the difficult work of keeping up with minimum spending limits, rotating rewards categories, and all the other details of your credit card rewards programs so you get the most value from your spending and don’t leave any points on the table.

How do your recommendations help me achieve my travel goals faster?

To answer this, let’s look at a detailed example.
Let's say you and your partner want to fly business class to Queenstown, New Zealand for a week of hiking and kayaking on Lake Wakatipu.

Sounds awesome! If you choose the “Any Program” option, you need 250,000 Virgin Atlantic points for the flight. Once you enter your trip details and existing rewards balances, the app knows you don't already have enough points for your trip, so you get a list of cards to apply for.

Note: If you already had enough points & miles to take the trip, the app would advise you how best to combine and redeem your points to take your trip.

Your recommendations will appear in the order we recommend applying for them. Taking advantage of generous sign-up bonuses is the fastest way to accumulate points & miles. Our recommended cards represent the optimal combination of sign-up bonuses, minimum spending limits, and bonus categories to get you to your goal as quickly as possible.

The first card on your list may have a signup bonus of 65,000 points with a minimum spend of $3,000. The next could have a bonus of 60,000 points with a minimum spend of $4,000, followed by a card with 75,000 bonus points with a minimum spend of $3,000, and so on down the list to get you to 250,000 points as quickly as possible.

You sign up for the first card, use it almost exclusively until you’ve spent $2,000 to claim your sign-up bonus, and then apply for the next card on the list, working your way down until you’ve earned all the points you need. If you tend to be a big spender, you can go ahead and apply for multiple cards at the same time, but please apply for them in the order suggested.

You’ll be guided by Card Curator’s automatic recommendations every step of the way, and you can track your progress using MyRewards. Once you reach your points goal, the app will alert you and tell you the best way to combine and redeem your points to purchase your flight.
